I am new to the site, but I have been reading your useful and informative posts.
I know that everyone's journey with endometriosis and surgery is different but I was just wondering how people found the recovery from a lap?
I was diagnosed with endometriosis back in June after another visit to A and E with acute pain in my tummy. My fertility doctor arranged to do my lap for August and I had my lap on Wednesday. My doctor removed 2 cysts, one was over 4cm on my left ovary and the cyst on my right ovary was 20cm by 15cm! Unfortunately my doctor also had to remove my right fallopian tube. My tummy is still swollen, especially on my left side and I feel like my body is full of air still. I am in pain but soldering through it because it is nowhere as bad as it was several days ago.
I was wondering how long it took for people to feel themselves again? I feel like I am on a rollercoaster at the moment with my emotions. My partner and I have been trying to conceive for a number of years without success and have been told by our fertility doctor that we shall be referred for IVF in 8 weeks when he will see me to review how I am after my surgery. I really don't want IVF as I am scared and feel like I have already gone through so much with fertility drugs and dealing with the endometriosis and cysts, but obviously will go through it in order to achieve our goal of having a child. I am hoping that the surgery will mean that we may conceive naturally and I wanted to know how long people waited until they had sex. Sex over the last several years has been awful for me and I am hoping that it may not be as painful because it does make trying for a child an unpleasant thing.
I welcome any advice.
Emma.

I had a lap last August and I was hopeful that I would be able to conceive naturally. I gave myself a year and now I’m about to undergo in vitro maturation. It’s ivf without the injections and the drugs.
If your remaining tube isn’t blocked and there are no other fertility related problems I can see no reason why you couldn’t conceive. My aunt conceived with one tube, the other was removed due to ectopic.
Ivf is great because if we can’t conceive naturally, we still get a choice in the matter. It’s not the end of the road for us xx
I had a lap in October and in the process lost both my tubes, I have stage 4 endo with inclusion of my bowel... its not much fun.
After my second lap I was off work for a month recovering.. physically and mentally, and it was that long before things happened in the bedroom!! So much races through your mind after surgery... don't think about decisions too much until you feel yourself. (For help with the bloat try sipping full fat coke or lucozade... worked amazingly for me).
I went through IVF again in March and once again it was unfortunately unsucessful. All my Endo removed in October was back which didnt help. I'm now on the mini pill in the hope it will make living day to day life a bit easier... struggling with it at the moment but fingers crossed!!
IVF is nothing to scared of... yes it takes a toll on your body and mind and you need each other more than ever, but clinics are usually very good at monitoring you, and keeping you informed so there is nothing to worry about. Sometimes you just need a little helping hand!
I hope it works out for you. Our dream to conceive is now over as we have already had to self fund our IVF and we now need to learn to accept our situation - we can at least look back and know we tried everything. X
Good Luck - whatever the results for you, look after yourselves x
