Been to fertility clinic , 10 eggs left in total 😳

Hi there clinic has checked my egg reserve which they say I have 5 in each ovary. If an egg is released every month, does that mean I’m Gona run out in like 10 months??? This feels like a stupid question but I don’t know the answer

Erm. I don’t actually know but could they freeze them on Nhs Or go on the a pill that can stop you ovulating until you have to resources to freeze them?? X

Hi sorry to reply so late! It's not a stupid question. But no, they weren't counting your actual eggs, they were counting the antral follicles that develop each month, one of which will go on to release the egg that month. Through IVF I think you would aim to get an egg out of each follicle, eg 10 eggs in your case. The number of follicles does indicate your total egg reserve, eg if you have 20 follicles you have a good egg reserve and if you have 2 follicles it's very low but the number of actual eggs will in the hundreds of thousands. Around a thousand eggs die every month not just one.
