Teenage endometriosis diagnosis

Hi I've been having endo symptoms since I was 14 I'm now 16 and wondering if there's anyone a similar age to me who's managed to get a diagnosis. At the moment no one will operate because of my age but just wondered if anyone's managed to get a diagnosis at 16?

Hi! I’ve had symptoms since I was 14/15 and didn’t get a diagnosis until recently (I’m 21 in sept). The Doctors just kept putting me on different pills x so sorry you’re going through this x

Hi. My symptoms also started when I was about 14 or 15. I think most doctors are reluctant to operate on someone of that age. Even when I was 18, I was advised to wait until I'm a bit older. I'm now almost 22 and going for my first laparoscopy in a few weeks.

I hope you get answers soon x

I hope you get some answers soon to. It's annoying that you've had to wait to long. Is your laparoscopy just a diagnostic one or will they remove what they find?

Thank you. Unfortunately, it seems like almost everyone goes through a long process to get diagnosed. During my laparoscopy they will remove the endo that they find as long as it's not in any risky areas. I considered just having a diagnostic lap with no treatment, but I want to see how my quality of life hopefully improves after they remove what they find. That is assuming it is endo.

Hi, I’m 17 and earlier this year got a ultrasound which indicated that I have endometriosis, my gynae has also said that she doesn’t want to operate as I am too young, however she will be discussing this with me when I go back to see her in August.

I think the only thing they can do with you is to do an ultrasound if you haven’t already had one, and just try different treatments to see what you respond well to. It’s a pain in the backside but it has to be done. If you need any advice or help you can always private message me :)

My symptoms started at around 14 and I’m 19 now. They are only operating on me now in a couple of weeks because it’s affected my career as an athlete.

It’s just patience tbh as I was tried on all sort of birth controls pills and painkillers but nothing helped. Xx
