Hey ladies. Following on a few months from my previous posts and I was admitted to hospital last weekend as I collapsed in pain and couldn’t feel my legs. Was given oramorph and my lord it was good to be able to feel ‘normal’ again.
My GP however, will not prescribe me anything stronger than codeine for my agonising pain. I have told him codeine is not working or even taking the slightest edge of these sharp cramp pains.
Any advice on how I get him or another GP to prescribe me stronger. I have recently turned 18.
Thank yous x

I understand your frustration but I also understand that your GP will not want to contribute to what is potentially an addiction. At 18, it would be a miserable life if the rest of it was dependent on morphine.
The Gynaecological may be happier to prescribe or alternatively refer you to a chronic pain service where there is a focus on pain relief more broad that just opiates.
I can’t keep track of how many different medications the doctor has prescribed me. The aggravating thing is I ask why I am taking them and why they aren’t working and they don’t have an answer however they still seem to give me something else to take xxx
It sounds like now would be a good time to have a medication review appt with the doc. Agree no point in taking something if not helpful. Some drugs have to be the system a while for drugs to help. Some pains also arent helped by tablets.
Id take in all your medication. Talk about what best works with what. The GP will be really glad to help you sort through things with you.
