My GP now thinks I could have fibromyalgia, was anyone else told this? I’m so confused and just want a diagnosis now, I’m sore and scared of what’s happening and I just want answers. I’ve been missing a lot of Uni and Work and it’s putting my mental health at jeopardy.
Thanks in advance for any help x

Does your GP think you could have endo AND Fibro? I don’t think it’s that uncommon to have both. I was diagnosed with stage 4 endo. Adenomyosis and interstitial cystitis and then last year was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia and ME.
However if your GP thinks it’s Fibro INSTEAD of endo I think you need to push for a second opinion/ referral to a specialist endo centre. I can feel when my Fibro flares, and I can feel when my endo flares and the two feel very different. Sometimes you need to get quite pushy to get yourself heard.
I know I keep banging on about this in all my replies 😂 but I went private for my initial endo consultation as the level of expertise is completely mind blowing compared to lower level NHS gynaecologists. I paid to see a consultant who then re-referred me back into the NHS which made my diagnosis time a lot quicker.
Thank you so much for the advice. She’s still unsure about the Endo, my ultrasound came back clear as expected but she’s trying to put off sending me for a Lap because i’m a student nurse and I’m worried about spending too much time off but it’s going that way anyway. Weve done lots of different tests but the pain I experience is constant and not just cyclical.
The pain I have during my cycle is a different sort of pain, almost as if it’s amplified but when I’m not on, I have chronic pain all the time anyway so it’s difficult to get to the bottom of it. My GP is fantastic though she’s doing every test she can think of and has been very supportive. I’m just at a loss now, I’m so frustrated and scared with the pain Im having and just really want an answer, I think I’d take any diagnosis at this point I just want to get to the bottom of it.
Thanks for all the advice I appreciate it immensely. I hope you’re doing well x
For what it’s worth my ultrasound before the lap came back clear and although I understand about you not wanting it to mess with your studies as I’m a post-graduate student so know how tough it is, until you bite the bullet and have the lap you won’t know what it is definitively. I experience endo pain daily and I have the coil and while that took away my bleeding for the most part I have constant pain and then Fibro pain too 😬
It’s great that your GP is being so supportive though and doing all the tests! But perhaps it may be worth thinking about having the lap to get to the bottom of things now, so that it doesn’t affect your career later? But that’s obviously a very personal decision to make xxxxxx
Yeah thinking that’s the way I’ll have to go, it’s just so frustrating I hate being unwell and missing so much. Thank you though, it’s honestly so appreciated x
