No more endometriosis?

Hi everyone,

I've just had my first appointment with a consultant after being diagnosed with endometriosis following an emergency surgery. The surgery was performed by general surgeons who called in a gynae surgeon when they discovered I had a ruptured chocolate cyst rather than the pain being caused by my appendix. They drained two other 6cm cysts on each ovary and took out my appendix while they were there, with histology later confirming there was endometriosis on the appendix too.

Now in this appointment a couple of months later the consultant said they didn't see any other signs of endometriosis in my pelvis. From everything I've read it seems unlikely it would just be on my appendix and I get terrible bowel problems whenever I have my period so was surprised they hadn't seen any there. After some gentle nudging he has requested an MRI and is referring me to a colleague who has more experience with endometriosis - though not the local endo centre.

Am I being overly paranoid to think that there must be more endometriosis in there? I have read that surgeons that aren't endometriosis specialists are less likely to find endometriosis? Should I just be counting myself as lucky that it isn't worse?!
