Do you have these endometriosis symptoms?

Hello all,

I've been having digestive problems for sometime and the GP suggested I might have IBS- he asked me to keep a food and symptoms diary to track any triggers. I've done so for the past 6 months and I haven't been able to find major food triggers. I've eliminated diary, wheat and sugar to ease digestion. What I have noticed though are the following symptoms:

- Every month around ovulation I get a strong flare up of IBS symptoms, the same happens the first day or second day of my period.

- On CD20-23 I always get strong cramps, abdominal discomfort, and pelvic pain that radiates down my left let. This sometimes wakes me up at night.

- This pain subsides from CD23-24 until I get my period.

- The best days of the cycle for me are from CD4-CD14. The rest of the month I always get some kind of discomfort/pain.

I wonder if I actually have endometriosis and not IBS. I've always had painful first two days of my period that I (sort of) manage with lots of ibuprofen. I haven't got any of the other usual symptoms such as bleeding in between periods.

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me whether they suffer similar pain/discomfort?

I believe endo can often be misdiagnosed as IBS x

Lots of women are told they have IBS (I was). I didn't have bleeding between periods either and I've not heard of that as a common symptom although I'm sure some women do experience it. I had severe disease with bladder and bowel involvement.

Please go back to your GP and tell them you want a referral to gynae. A GP cannot diagnose endo or rule it out, only a gynae can do that.
