Diagnosed with endo and adenomyosis at 23

Hello everyone,

I am currently 24 years old and I was diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis last summer. It came as a schock for me because I don't experience any pelvic pains (apart from some pains on the first day of period) and never had missed or irregular periods.

I have about 2-3 chocolate cysts on both ovaries, the biggest ones being around 30 mm and I was told that my uterus is slightly enlarged because of adenomyosis.

I was offered to have a lap done and to remove one of my ovary, but I really don't want to lose any of my female organs as I don't suffer from chronic pains.

I am really worried how it will affect my fertility, I came off the mini pill in January and have been trying to TTC since then (so about 2,5 month ttc).

I just wanted to share my story and have some support as I feel that I don't have anyone to talk about it who can really understand my worries. Let me know your fertility or TTC stories if you have the same diagnosis.

Hi Ella,

They found a chocolate cyst one on each ovary last June/July time (one was 5cm the other was 7/8cm)

I was the same boat as you not wanting my ovaries to be removed as being young (I am currently 24)

I had my laparoscopy beginning of March my doctor and I spoke before the operation and he reassured me he wouldn’t remove my ovary or ovaries - he said it has been years since he had to do that and it would only happen if there was complication.

Maybe best to ask why they think removing your ovary is best in your circumstance.

Me.. I ask the doctor 21 question!

At the end of the day it’s your body and should be in your best interest.

Always hear if you want to ask/talk about anything else.

Thank you for your story.

I went to talk to other doctors and they said that I don't need to remove ovaries and doing a lap is not urgent for me because most cysts are small.

I seen doctors about it abroad, maybe should try and talk about it to doctors in UK...
