I am having my first dose of Zoladex tomorrow to switch off my ovaries due to being diagnosed with endo 2 years ago and having a Mirena coil removed a few weeks ago as it wasn't helping as I was still bleeding and in pain.
Ive heard not very good reviews on this drug so if anyone can give me some advise on symptoms that would really help! 2 months time I go back to see my consultant to see if there has been an improvement and have ovaries removed if not then ovaries and womb will be removed.

I’m now approaching my second Zoladex injection and I, like you was apprehensive having read various things about it. My consultant started it alongside Tibolone HRT.
On the whole I would say my pain relief use has reduced, I’ve experienced a few night sweats and hot flushes which I have to say aren’t the best - BUT they are without doubt 100x better than the host of endo symptoms I was experiencing. I have noticed my appetite has improved, and generally feeling a little less fatigued the past couple of weeks. I hope it gives you the relief you need. Keep an open mind, everyone reacts differently to medication. Emla cream will definitely help a little pre-injection! X
Awww thank you so much for your positive words. Had injection yesterday which wasn't pleasant but it was done in a second! I intend to think positively and will be going on Tibolone HRT too so lets have an open mind and carry on. Thanks again xx
I’m like you I’m awaiting either ovarie or full hysterectomy with bowel resection surgery after Zoladex. I initially had 3 injections and hated it as I was having flushes, mood swings, severe fatigue and muddled episodes. Consultant said it was the side effects of menopause and started me on livial HRT and they’ve eased significantly! I’ve only had 1 period and I do get some pain around “that time of the month” but ibrufen and paracetamol do the job. So much nicer than pre injection. I’m still very worried re the injections and I spoke to a dietitian friend of mine. She recommended a good multivitamin for menopause (you need calcium & vit D), omega 3 oils to help replace some of the lost nutrients.
Good Luck you’ve got nothing to loose but get HRT as well. The one I’m on is the same as Milly and it’s synthetic so good for endo sufferers.
I have just completed 6 months of zoledex injections and yeah i had hot flushes and sweat like a man at the gym you get used to them. The tibolone does help reduce the symptoms of the injections. I did put on 2 stone but i weirdly didnt go up a dress size must be hormones. However even with the ups and downs it gave my body a rest from the severe endo i have. For the first time in years i was almost pain free. However i have stopped the injections now and my pain is returning. The gyne agrees my endometriosis responded well to the zoledex and it was worth it for me. The only problem is you can not have them long term as bad for your bones and future fertility chances.
