Hi Jo. I've recently been diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis, but I have no more explanation from the Doc's than adenomyosis is when the lining of the uterus is actually growing inside the walls of the uterus. I imagine it responds in the same way as endo to any hormone treatment but unsuitable for laparoscopy. Regards Krista
Yeah I read it's the same but inside if that makes sense. I am guessing it's harder to diagnose? Does it grow anywhere else do you know. Thanks for your reply xxx
Hi Jo, I had excision of severe endo with a skilled specialist last year then another surgery for adhesions and was still in as much pain - mainly lower back, pelvic pain, group, hips, legs, bowel issues. In my follow up my Surgeon actually diagnosed me with suspected Adenomyosis - it's where endometrial tissue grows only in muscle lining of uterus. It can't grow anywhere else like endo can. They diagnose it from a lap - by size and shape of your womb but can't 100% confirm you have it. Cure is a hysterectomy and it doesn't come back like endo. He said there are other treatments that some gynys offer like taking sections of uterus but can make whole thing worse and he advises against it. I'm trialling the Prostap injections before deciding on hysterectomy as my surgeon advised if this eases the pain then it's closest thing to confirming it's condition of the womb. Obviously what you decide depends on how debilitating your symptoms are. Hope that helps xx
Thanks sweetie. I did wonder if I had that but I had a hysterectomy at 33 and still have agonising pain 😩😩 my hips and legs hurt at times too I still have my ovaries and at what would be 'my time of the month' my hips really hurt so I know when my cycle would have been lolxxx
