I have my first gynae appointment in February and my Gp referred my with suspected endo.
I just wanted to ask everyone what happened during your first gynae appointment?
Any advice or good questions to ask?
Was there an internal examination?
Any advice would be well appreciated xxxx

In my experience, they ask you a bunch of questions about your cycle and symptoms.
I would ask what your options are in terms of treatment. If you suspect you have endometriosis and they just dismiss it, keep persisting or find another doctor until they listen! From what I’ve seen, it can be a fight sometimes.
I was lucky and was offered a diagnostic/excision lap right away when it was suspected because of my family history of endo and other female anatomy problems.
I was given an internal exam, internal and external ultrasound, and an external exam where they kind of push around your abdomen. It’s uncomfortable, especially when you’re in pain. But not completely unbearable in my case. I hate any kind of internal exam but unfortunately that’s what they do..
Yes, I’ve had one for endometriosis in August and currently recovering from a gallbladder removal. I’d say for the endo it was about 3.5 weeks before I felt almost normal. Can’t say the same about this more recent surgery as I am suffering from something that they can’t figure out.. However, on my page(if you scroll down a bit) I have a day to day update after my first lap with incision pictures with tons of helpful comments from other women on here.
It’s completely understandable to be nervous about the exam. It’s scary and uncomfortable. I just do my best to tell myself they’re professionals and they’re not trying to put me in danger. In fact, they’re trying to make sure you’re not in danger. I have PTSD so those exams really threw me for a loop and prevented me from getting help for quite some time.
