Hi welcome 👋🏼 honestly there is nothing to worry about!! I know when people say that it's hard to believe because you haven't been through it but it really is. It's such a straight forward procedure. You go in the nurses are lovely they put you at ease, once you go down to the theatre where they put you to sleep it's like having the best sleep of your life. They ask you to think of something nice but before you can you are asleep. You don't dream or anything like that. Then you wake up and it's over before you know it! Nice and simple. If you have any questions your more than welcome to message me! Good luck xx

Hi, I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry. I had my first lap 2.5 weeks ago and honestly it was absolutely fine. Just make sure you take it easy and give yourself time to recover. I really thought I’d be fine after a week but I’m still suffering with the gas pains and my stomach is enormous! Take care x

I was really surprised by how easy it was. Prior to the surgery, I was terrified and my imagination was running wild.

The nurses were so kind to me. The anaesthetic kicked in within seconds and I woke up what felt like a blink later in the recovery room being told the surgery went well. Everyone was lovely and I had an amazing nurse help me through the night.

The anaesthetic affects everyone differently. It can make some of us feel teary. You’ll probably have abdominal pain and bloating for a while. Here are a few tips to help you post-surgery:

1) Stock the fridge/freezer with meals you can reheat easily.

2) Have a pillow for the journey home. It will sit between your abdomen and the seat belt.

3) Avoid eggs, bananas and other bowel movement blockers

4) Get some Milk of Magnesia, mint tea, psyllium husk or similar to help ease the constipation and trapped wind that follows surgery. The bloating can be unpleasant.

5) Make up a bed downstairs on the sofa, preferably with access to films and books.

6) Rest - it can take a few weeks to feel normal.

7) I took a selenium & zinc tablet to aid inner and outer healing. I uses Pharma Nord.

8) Ask someone to look after you for the first couple of days. You won’t want to stand around cooking.

I found the laparoscopy to be the easiest part of the journey. The lead up to a surgery date was the agonising and hellish part for me.

Good luck. x
