Could I have endometriosis?

Hi all,

I am a 26 year old woman. I'm not living in the UK, but I'm looking for similar stories and people to talk to, and I couldn't find much in my own country. I hope that's okay.

I've always had heavy periods, but ever since I've gotten off the pill (a year ago - not because I'm trying to have a baby) it has gotten way worse.

I have a chronic pain condition and other health issues that make me quite accepting of pain. It was only yesterday (I'm menstruating) when I couldn't move without extreme pain, couldn't get off the couch and my boyfriend had to lift me up while I was crying from the pain, and I couldn't make it to the bathroom on my own, that I was starting to wonder if this pain is abnormal...

Bowel movements during my period are extremely painful. So is passing gas. Sometimes urinating is also very painful (in my lower abdomen, deep inside, not my urethra itself).

I have a lot of bladder issues too, frequent UTI's bu also UTI symptoms without bacteria being found.

Sitting is also sometimes very painful during my menstruation.

I've also got anemia because of the blood loss during my period.

Today I am doing better, but it always comes in waves throughout the day. I am still in quite a bit of pain though, I cannot leave the house for example and walking does hurt a lot.

Does this sound familiar to you?

Hi, I'm the same as you when it comes to having anemia due to the heavy periods and blood loss. I'm always feeling very weak whenever I'm on my period. Like you, I often find it painful to sit down during menstruation, and get painful bowel movements when I'm on my period.

I'm sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. What country do you live in?

I haven't officially been diagnosed with endometriosis yet, as I'm currently deciding if I should have a diagnostic laparoscopy to find out once and for all if it is actually endometriosis. Though my doctor has given me a provisional diagnosis, based on my symptoms.

Is your doctor investigating your symptoms? I hope you find answers soon :)

Thank you for your reply.

I live in the Netherlands. I haven't been to a doctor yet, but I am in the process of finding one.

Sorry to hear about your issues, hope you will find relief!
