If you are worried then it's a good idea to call the ward or your GP for advice just as a precaution in case they want to check you over for an infection.
I had a close bowel shave rather than an resection but quite extensive surgery. I sort of began to turn the corner at 6 to 8 weeks.
Think I'm going docs tomorrow, ive got a GI specialist nurse who told me to eat more and take more painkillers but I think things are getting stacked up higher up. Never easy is it, hope you made a full recovery x
Painkillers will constipate you so try to take as few as you can and avoid ibuprofen which damages your gastric linig. Taking it gave me GERD which I am now suffering badly with.
Perhaps try vegetable smoothies or something nutrient rich with fibre but will slip down ok?
I had a phase of severe food anxiety after my surgery for a month which didn't help my eating habits. I was scared the bowel would leak or be damaged and feared painful BMs, so wouldn't eat when in pain. Keeping fibre up with veg and lactulose was probably the most helpful thing for me. Hugs. The first month is tough. Xxxx
Yes I agree, am not a fan of painkillers I'd rather know what was going on. They gave me omeprazole in hospital to take with the ibuprofen. Am just on naproxen a couple of times a day now which seems to help. I do have a blockage so will give it a couple more days just to make sure then see the doc. Have to stick to plain bland food like chicken or toast but topping up with shakes from the doctor. Will take up to 6 months they've said to return to normal but that's not too bad as its been like it for nearly 2 years now! x
Big hugs XXX looks like you are on top of things. Doesn't make it any easier day to day though X hang in there.and good luck at the doctors.
