Help?! Endometriosis on depo

hi, first time ever posting on something like this but I'm starting to feel really down.

I'll start from the very beginning, I'm 23 years old and have had horrendous periods since being about 17. (Waking up in pain, dragging pain into my legs, feeling like someone is tearing out my insides etc)

At the time I did see my GP about the pains I was having (I also suffered quite bad ovulation pain) and I was sent for a scan where they couldn't see any cysts. From there I was referred to a gynaecologist who discussed the possibility of endometriosis. I think I declined further investigations as I was young and wasn't very educated on endometriosis. Since then I have suffered with severe pain.

I started the depo provera just over a year ago, i had a little bleed here and there at the beginning. Then my periods stopped and have been able to forget about any pain (no more calling in sick yay!)

Until about a month ago.. my next injection was due and I started to feel pain in my ovaries. This has been a dull ache, radiating into my legs, lower back ache, high temperature to start with etc.

GP sent me for a internal scan to check for cysts.. no sign!

So now I'm waiting for gynae referral.

(GP ruled everything else out with bloods, urine)

I guess I'm just looking to see if anyone else has suffered endo without having a period? My GP didn't say it was impossible but I could be waiting a while to see the specialist and I'm starting to go a little crazy worrying what's happening!

I have had exactly the same trouble as you, especially with the pain in ovaries and legs, but I have also had bleeding from behind, ever since I went on depo my symptoms calmed down but I am due to have a colonoscopy in December to rule out anything on the bowel so it’s a waiting game for me

That sounds awful! I just didn't think it could be possible to suffer from endometriosis without having a period for so long. It's just come out of nowhere.

I hope they get to the bottom of your problem, it's not knowing what causes the most stress for me!

I went onto cerelle, which is the pill version of the depo. I found the absence of periods made my symtoms worse, i even ended up in a&e as i passed out with the pain, i did bleed on the first occasion very heavily after about 6 months of no period but since then have had several episodes of pain and blacking out with no bleeding 😔 i came off all contraception about 6 months ago and have surprisingly found my pain more manageable ..hope you get sorted soon

Thanks for the reply! It's all very confusing, I'm sorry you went through all of that!
