Is laproscropey the same or worse than having a c-section with pain and recovery time?

Does it take longer than a week to recover?

It depends on what your natural healing time is and how invasive surgery is. It takes me quite a while to heal but I was active in a couple of days compared to c section I revovered quickly in the mobility side but I ended up having infection which put me back on my bum. It depends hun you can't predict I'd say to be safe 2 weeks but thats just me. Everyone's different, 😘

Hi. I had c-section after a 54 hour labour and was very painful, in comparison my planned lap was a breeze! I was sore for a few days but within a week I was comfortable enough to go shopping and I was only taking paracetamol. I did have a lot done and they stressed how important it was not to over do it as I felt the best I'd been in a year! Good luck and give yourself plenty of time to rest. Have peppermint to hand for the gas and take a dressing gown . Xx

Thank you .:) I will do the peppermint for sure!

C section is major abdomenal surgery, with 15cm external incision, a large internal uterine incision, stomach muscles are completely severed.

A lap is minor surgery, maximum of three 1cm external incisions.

They cannot even be compared. A lap is a walk in the park compared to a c section.

I have had a 2 laps and an emergency section. I actually recovered quicker from the section I was on my feet properly a week after but my 2nd lap took 7 weeks to recover.

I think I am fairly fortunate recovery wise but I would definitely say recovery after the lap is far quicker and less painful. I had two weeks off of work for the lap. As others have said, a C-section is a much bigger wound so more painful in that respect. Having said that you don't have a new born baby to take care of so some people may find their focus after a lap is on their own pain and discomfort rather than being distracted by their baby. Maybe that's why some other people feel it's worse?

If you healed well after the C-section then I'm sure you will have no problem after the lap. It sounds crazy but I was so much more worried about the lap as it involved a general anaesthetic but on the day it was much easier than I thought. I needn't have worried so much!

I found peppermint tea very comforting after the lap.

Best wishes
