I'm wondering how long this takes to go down... I had my endo removed 2 months ago but my belly is still round... I get a terribly swollen belly around my period but now it's ridiculous. I also have adenomyosis. Photo is of period belly

My belly has very often looked like that especially leading up to my periods. I have firboids, endo, ovarian cysts, adenomyosis etc I had open surgery in Dec 2015 to remove endo and fibroids. I think everyone's recovery must be different. I recovered well from my surgery but my swollen belly came back after I had IVF. Can you massage your belly a little bit with bio-oil? and drink herbal teas? I find that does help and also staying away from Gluten. After an operation your body needs time to recover, you might just need a bit longer. Be kind to yourself and rest. My gynaecologist said it might take a year for my post op belly to sort itself. it took 2-3 months for me to recover fully. I would give it more time and if your symptoms don't improve maybe contact your consultant. xxx

Thank you so much.... I've been getting worried about it and it's so hard to dress to accommodate the belly but this has reassured me

I couldn't wear jeans until recently. I had to buy larger clothes for comfort.

I had my operation during the winter so I could wear big jumpers and cosy home clothes. I do have some comfy summer maxi dresses which I keep for when it's hot in case I have a flare up and my belly swells. A man gave up his seat for me on the train once because he thought I was pregnant. It's a pain getting dressed, no matter how loose my clothes were you could still see my belly. I am quite small so there was me and then my belly. I really did look very pregnant.

I had open surgery, my scar goes across my bikini line and I only got the feeling back around that area recently.

If you went to your GP they honestly wouldn't know what to do. I know from experience that your consultant probably won't do anything except ask you to give it all longer to heal but if you are worried or in pain see someone.

Big hugs. It took me a good 2 to 3 months after my first lap for my bloating to reduce. It might be worth seeing if you can talk to a women's health physio to see if there are exercises to do to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles...?
