Hi all, I just started Visanne and I'm experiencing headaches, bad sleep, irritability and nightmares. Did anyone else experience this? Should I push through in the hopes that it will stabilise? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Visanne and side effects
Hi Mia, I've had two long stints on visanne and found it relatively easy to adjust to. I always have vivid dreams on any progesterone but found visanne better for the other side effects than provera or the depo jab.
Have you had it prescribed in the UK? As I can't get it here, was prescribed it overseas and have now run out so am on 30mg of provera which is making me feel very poorly - bleeding for weeks/headaches etc.
I hope it settles for you soon. X
Hi Starstellar7, thanks for replying did you get headaches on visanne?
I'm in Australia and can get visanne here. I haven't tried provera.
Thanks and hope you feel better soon too!
Hi, yes I did but I have a tendency to get hormonal migraines, sometimes twice monthly.
Visanne is supposed to be the best hormonal solution to endo.
The other option of course is surgery...
I hope it settles down for you!
YES! I am currently on Visanne for almost six months now and the side effects are impacting my life. I had to go through lots of analysis and diary writing to finally conclude it’s the medication in question that’s causing this craziness. Why? Because I always had the following, but now it’s augmented: My dreams were always so vivid, but now they are so frequent and focused; nightmares are heartwrenching; marital betrayal - these drove me crazy, literally-, war and blood, seeing my loved ones hurt, etc. These nightmares negatively affected my life and relationships. I wake up very exhausted from a dream, and the bad mood lasts for a whole day if nothing great distracts me from the dream that keeps repeating in my head. Headaches are frequent, my eyes are also often dry.
I also have palpitations now - even though I’ve never experienced any problems with my heart before.
I am glad that the pain is gone - menstruation has stopped for two months now, except for spotting once a month. I also am happy to see my sex drive increasing (most probably since the pain during intercourse, and frequent spotting which made me feel uncomfortable are gone).
