Operation Results 'By Post'?

Hi, I had surgery on 26th May, so just over 3 weeks ago. I have severe endometriosis and have now had to have both ovaries removed (two operations two years apart) because of masses on both of them. My most recent surgery was preceded by several weeks of considerable anxiety as I was referred to gynae/oncology because of something picked up on an mri scan and an elevated CA125 level. During investigation I had a further CT and MRI scan and by the time I had surgery I was told that they didn't think I had ovarian cancer, and the same was said immediately after surgery - big sigh of relief obviously... however.... My discharge letter says 'results by post'. My question is, how long will I have to wait for results? I did phone gynaecologist's secretary on Thursday, but just got ansaphone and call has not been returned. I can't quite relax until I get pathology results having had such a scary pathway before surgery... any advice? Thanks (this was NHS op)

Usually 2 weeks for any biopsy results to come back and then a few days for them to be reviewed and posted out , but I found with good news results it took longer and I had to phone to chase them! But hopefully that won't happen for you. Hope they don't wait too long

Thank you. If I haven't heard by end of the week I'll try and chase again.
