Hi there. I've had horrendous periods from the outset but found endometriosis symptoms were triggered about 12 months after my little girl was born. I was constantly at the doctors and didn't seem to be taken seriously. After 14 months of this I literally collapsed in tears at the doctors begging for help and they finally referred me to a gynaecologist. After an internal scan to rule out cysts I had a laparoscopy which is the only way you can be diagnosed with endometriosis. It's been quite a journey for me after diagnosis and a lot of trial and error. I started with the Merina coil which is one treatment plan - went well for 12 months then went downhill again and had to have it removed. I am now coming to the end of a 18m spell on Prostrap injections. Prostrap puts you through a fake menopause every month but also allows your body to heal - I was pretty much pain free for the last 18m. They only recommend you stay on it for 12m but I did longer but had a bone density scan as it can affect your bones. The scan came back with issues so next week the last injections wears off and then im back to a progesterone only pill. I know this won't work and despite my consultant being amazing I'm only left with one other option: a full hysterectomy. I hit a very bad low a couple of weeks ago after my last consultant appointment - my head was a mess but I'm coming through it now slowly.

Take some time to look on the internet as to what treatments are available and don't be bulldozed into a decision by anyone - take your time to do some research.

If you haven't already got it, see if the doctor will give you a supply of norethestorine as that did help stop the bleeding for me somewhat.

Also if you're in that much pain, as soon as your letter comes through for the hospital, call them and see if you can get an earlier appointment to get the ball rolling. You have to be very persistent.

In the meantime, and this is something I'm now looking at, is your diet. Cutting anything out with wheat, dairy and red meat which has estrogenic properties in can result in endo flareups. I'll be changing my diet next week to see if this helps. Just google: endometriosis diet.

It's perfectly normal to feel scared and confused. It's been a horrendous time for you both physically and mentally. You are not alone. We are here to help and support you as much as we can. Please do message me if you fancy a chat.

Big hugs x

Thank u for replying to me the first part sounds so similar to me it took me breaking down yesterday for a doctor to listen, I do finally think im on the road to get help, ive tried the coil, depo injection and im on my second lot of mini pills im not holding out much hope it will help but do find it makes my periods slightly lighter, think it's more the pain I struggle to deal with day to day, im finding myself totally drained I definitely will phone right away with the scan its something ive been pushing for about a year now but doctors told me to try hormones first but unfortunately have been unsuccessful, will definitely do some research but I can't lie I have been scared to I only no the basics of what the doctor sed yesterday im just hoping that they will find whats wrong with me

Hey,

I'm fairly new to the site as well, and going through the process of being diagnosed as my records say 'suspected endometriosis'.

I have been going back and forth from the docs for 4 years, having blood tests & scans, different medication etc.

I would recommend keeping a diary (i keep mine on my phone in notes) with month, day, year, symptoms and how I feel at the time. Make a doctors appointment every other week regardless of if your feeling ok that day (refer back to your notes from when you last felt bad), you have to be sooo persistent to be taken seriously.

I have now finally been referred to the hospital and waiting for a date for a laparoscopy, feeling very nervous about it all but this forum is amazing and women get back your question so quickly I already feel better and less depressed about things!

Hope you get it sorted soon xxx
