Hello all,
Can someone tell me how I can refer myself to a BSGE clinic please?
Hello all,
Can someone tell me how I can refer myself to a BSGE clinic please?
Your GP can do it, but bsge referral ( as opposed to a general gynaecologist)) is only mandatory if you have suspected severe deep endo i believe, because that is when you need the multi disciplinary surgical teams due to compkexity caused by involvement of other organs like bowel or bladder so need the extra skilled excision surgeons.
There are excellent reference documents on the NHS contract and treatment pathway at the Endo revisited fb page ( click on info then files)
Hey, thanks for your reply.
I was diagnosed with deeply infiltrating stage 4 endo, affecting both ovaries bladder and bowel! I had an op but didn't feel better so they started me on the monthly injections zoladex which have made me even worse! I've been waiting for an appointment with a specialist for ages and I feel like only step is to try a BSGE clinic
Crikey in that case you should have only been operated on in a BSGE centre or by a surgeon working to their standards.
It might be worth seeing if you can get a first consult privately then transfer into NHS in the right treatment pathway. Some surgeons do this.
Failing that take a copy of the NHS contract for deep endo to your GP with you and insist on the bsge referral.
You can find the documents on endo revisited Facebook page under info / files
Will give you list of all centres and specialists there. As others have said your gp can refer you and usually it is to the clinic and a preferred consultant. As most GPS have never heard of clinics can be worth calling clinic yourself before hand to ask how exactly your gp needs to refer you and you can then take that info to your Gp.
