BSGE centres

Hi there,

I have never heard of bsge centres until I went on here neither my dr or consultant have ever mentioned.

Could someone tell me what the difference is between that and normal specialists? What do they offer?

I'm seeing my dr again this week and want to ask but would like some background about it before I do!

Thanks

Luce 😊

Hi Lula, these centres were set up to specifically deal with endo. The surgeons undergo more extensive training than general gynaecologists. They also use excision rather than ablation. You are also assigned an endo specialist nurse who you can call anytime.

Ah really? Thank you for this.. how do I get referred to one of these centres?

Your GP can refer you. Have a look on the BSGE website and it will show you all the centres along with consultants. You can then decide where you want to go and get GP to refer you to them . Any problems come back to me and I will try and help.

Bsge centers are amazing they are more for stage 3 and 4 endo as us ladies are more complex, i.e. Location of endo. But it never hurts to ask to go. Good luck

Hi, I saw an specialist from the bsge list (private healthcare) but at a more local hospital. Obvs. Didn't get the Nurse follow up but that didn't worry me. So if the centre is too far away see if the specialist operates from a closer hospital.

Will give you a map, and list of centres, best to pick the one you want to go to before you see GP so you can ask to be referred to them specifically.

My GP had never heard of them either!
