I have been on this for the last four months. I didn't have a lot of symptoms the first month as had a period but then they stopped which did mean no pain . My symptoms now are hot flushes day and night which wake me up several times a night. These have got worse as I have progressed treatment. I have also been more emotional and have lost my temper a few times which I wouldn't normally do. Also sorry for the detail but I have constipation and dryness in the vagina which has made intercourse more painful then before with my stage 4 endo.

Apparently you can have some HRT to give you some relief from these symptoms but I have not been given this as I am due to transfer some embryos that have been frozen from an IVF cycle.

Hi Rharvey. I was also scheduled to be on decapeptyl with livial addback for three months pre-surgery (stage 4 bladder endometriosis) but ended up being on it for nearly a year after delays regarding surgery. This was a couple of years ago and I honestly can't remember any side effects except the hot flushes which were pretty strong during the day (I ended up carrying a fan around with me at work which everyone around me found hilarious) and could also spring up on me at night making falling asleep difficult. My periods stopped of course, as did the pain, although it did take two or three months after my first injection for the pain to stop and the pain started to come back pretty quickly when one of my injections was delayed by a month or so.

I hope the injections and your surgery goes well. Take care xx

I had 5 months of it earlier this year, with livial HRT add back. I had minimal side effects overall. The first month was tough - you get a hormone surge before things calm down and I had very vivid dreams and felt really odd. The most noticeable things were that my breasts shrank 2 cup sizes, I had some hair loss, and my skin cleared up - not a single spot in 5 months. I didn't gain any weight. I also had joint pain in my wrists and ankles in the first 6-8 weeks, and I had some odd memory problems - I had real trouble with vocabulary and would often find that I couldn't remember words for things. Sadly it didn't stop my periods and was abandoned after 5 months due to a massive pain flare that landed me in A&E. When I stopped taking the HRT I had nightsweats and would wake up soaking wet and freezing and have to strip the bed. However I felt better on it than on the other treatments I've tried.
