Hi I'm new this is my first post
I was a member of an endo support group 10yrs ago and was kicked out of the north ugroup when I went into hospital for lifesaving surgery. I Rang the group leader who lived in Camden to let her know why I'd missed meetings and hoping she and the group would visit me. Her response was to accuse me of enjoying the attention of being in hospital and wanting to be the centre of attention.
I understood that there may be militant factions amongst us who view reliance on modern science as colluding with the enemy and having to have extensive life saving surgeryas a personal failing for not following a strict vegan diet.
The truth is this horrid condition affects all types of women with varying degrees of severity. There are many charlatans out there who will tell you that a cup of special tea costing £100pm will solve everything but the truth is when it gets chronic as mine did and causes abdominal obstructions and severe blood loss only surgery can help and save your like it didfor me. It took 12 hours of intricate surgery and a six week stay to save my like, but I owe my life to the surgeons and staff who catred for me. As for the leader of the group she proved herself to be an unfeeling malignant narccistitc control freak without any genuine care for the women in the group.
I hope it is NO longer practice in support groups to turn away those in desperate need of support just because they are undergoing surgery. We are all women deserving of respect and compassion., irrespective of our treatment choices and do ourselves no good by cruelly excluding other women in need.
It has taken me over a decade to want to approach a group again. I was deeply hurt by my experience and would like to offer any support that I can to other women.
