Mirena coil lower stomach pain

Hi I had the Mirena coil fitted about 6 weeks ago and these last few days I've been suffering with lower abdominal pain its awful , I hope my coil hasn't moved as have read this can happen so going to see family planning check its in place , wanted to ask if its moved how long does it take to get a scan done , thank you

Hi, I had similar pain when I got my Mirena in, it turned out I actually had an infection from getting it inserted. I was sweating like crazy at night also. Dr put me on a course of antibiotics for 10 days and it really helped, it could possible be that?

Hi catlover5, I agree to seeing family planning clinic in your town or at your local hospital. They can check the position of the Mirena, did they show you how to check "the strings"? if they are still there its unlikely its fallen out, however its possible if it was a struggle to put it in the uterus it may be damaged and that's why you feel pain? at the 6 weeks stage you should be ready for a "loss" and it might look like its old blood(brown coloured) don,t be alarmed that's normal, bring your appt. forward if you made one otherwise ask for the next available as you feel you need to be seen.. Hi the coil is in place so I told family planning about the lower abdominal pain think it may be due to endiometris anyway seeing a gynea on mon next week to have a cervical poly removed so been advised to mention the pain to be honest having a laparoscopy being knocked out scares me but I may have no choice
