When did your periods come back?

Hello ladies, I just removed my own mirena coil 3 days ago, I couldn't take the mood swings and the zero sex drive etc.. How long did it take for most of you to have your periods again? also what was your pain like?

Hey

I had a bit of bleeding when it was removed and then a proper period bang on the time it was due. My 2nd and 3rd mirena coils never helped with my pain so I cant say there was any difference. I had it removed due to hot flushes, night sweats, dry skin on my face, mood swings, increased migraines and depression and heavier bleeding on the 3rd coil, I gave it 9 months so knew it wasn't just settling in. x

Sadly I can't help you on the period issue - I just had mine taken out this afternoon after 10 months of constant bleeding and cramps and mood swings!

Hi,

I had 2 brilliant Mirenas, 10 years of no bleeding & pain free. When I had the last 1 removed, I bled for 25 days straight which was a shock to the system, really heavy with large clots.

3 weeks later I had a kinda 'normal period' with 9 days of bleeding. Im currently on a 'wait & see' basis as to what my next move is, the mini pill has been suggested. I didnt want a 3rd Mirena as Im nearly 46 & just couldnt cope with the horrific experience of having another removed & inserted at the same time.
