what do people call endometriosis? an illness, disease? I've been officially diagnosed with it but when people ask me what it is I'm not really sure what to say...
i know this sounds really dumb and i apologise.

I tell people it's a chronic disease where tissue like the lining of the uterus grows inside the pelvic cavity, on ovaries/fallopian tubes/bowel etc. It is affected by the hormones of the menstrual cycle and bleeds into the abdomen during periods causing pain, inflammation and scarring.
Usually people stop listening when they hear the word 'periods' :s
thank you so much, that's extremely helpful x
Great explanation! I too get shut down as soon as periods are mentioned x
All the other is right on what endo is but endo doesn't stop after u get your uteris and ovaries took out. I only have one ovary left and I'm 25. The endo keeps coming back us endo sisters have to find a cure not just treatments to keep it at bay. I had end since was 13.
I've been so ill during my cycle and I never knew what it was but after having a laparoscopy I've finally been diagnosed with it after a year of being in agony. we need to defo need to find a cure for it!
I just call it a condition. You don't catch endometriosis so it's not a disease.
