I'm just wondering how long it has taken for your appointment letter to come through after your gp has referred you?

It was 2 weeks ago today that my gp sent the letter referring me to specialist and still no appointment letter through.

I'm probably just being impatient but my symptoms are getting worse and It's driving me insane

Xx

Haha, you're more patient than I am! A week after my GP sent the referral letter I called the consultant's secretary to see whether they received it. A week later I received my referral letter with an appointment for two weeks after that. Not sure if the quick appointment was because I followed up on the referral or if that is normal at that particular BSGE, but needless to say I was pleased.

First time, it took 6 weeks from the referral to the appointment.

From there I was referred again and it took 2 months to see the next one.

This time, I booked the appointment 4 days after seeing my GP but the appointment is 5 weeks from that point, it's so ridiculous!

But I do think if you ring and pester and pester it will speed things up! All the best X

6 weeks to get the date of your appointment?

My gp said the Secretary wrote the letter on the 7th, I phone the hospital today and they said they haven't received anything yet.

Brought my referral letter into work today so i could give them a call and chase it up (as it has been 9 weeks)... but they beat me to it! They just called to say they have received the letter and that they have had a cancellation for Monday afternoon so could i go in at short notice... Hell yeah.. :-) x

I waited 6 weeks and hadn't heard anything so gave the hospital a call and asked for the first cancellation appointment. That was 7 weeks away. So in total I waited 13 weeks for my appointment. Even with a+e visits and emergency gynae seeing me they didn't bring my appointment forward x
