Can anyone reassure me, about my first appointment at the BSGE centre?

I'm due to see a new consultant at the BSGE centre in Romford.

Seeing as my gynae before failed me, I'm pretty scared and nervous! What happens at the first appointment and what should I ask?

I prepared a list, in chronological order, of symptoms, etc. Everything that happened, what works for me and what doesn't. Sometimes even providing more info than necessary but wanted to make sure I am understood.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. If any blood tests are required, ask what they are for.

The specialist I saw didn't want to discuss any options until he has got all tests results.

It was an odd consultation as I was referred to fertility clinic rather than BSGE to start with. Fertility doctor took all the notes and referred me to BSGE. BSGE specialist only read he notes taken at the previous consultation.

I offered even more info as more symptoms appeared and asked about test result. Nothing exciting really but it is happening now so I am not complaining.

General gynae don't always know endo, let alone understand. And NHS is putting so much pressure on doctors to provide numbers, statistics and closed cases that unfortunately human story gets forgotten . Happened to me and that was the gynae that performed the lap!

When is your appointment?

22nd June, so not long now. My last gynae blamed it on everything, it's ibs, no wait it's IC, nooo you are off your head. So I guess I'm more nervous now, I just don't want to be pushed from pillar to post again. I've got my pain diary, I've tracked my periods for 6mths and I have wrote down a timeline. Fingers crossed they will listen x

I had my appointment yesterday at Colchester. The specialist was really friendly and knew his stuff. They ask a number of questions to make assessments and therefore you sound like you had good information to be able to provide them.

It should be different at BSGE, they will listen. Let us know how you get on. Good luck!

Sorry it's taken me so long to get to you all! Have been feeling decidedly worse and my period made an appearance yesterday (a few days late) and I was vomitting with it! Only have a week and a half to go until my appointment. So I'm slowly getting my paperwork together ready and just hope they take me seriously! I will update you all. Fingers crossed for me and thank you!
