Bowel irritation/infection.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has been through what I'm going through today.

I opened my bowels twice this morning, the second time I opened my bowels I could feel something in my bowels on the right side. Within a few seconds of opening my bowels I felt sharp pains in my stomach on the right side, it kind of felt like irritation and felt hot. Throughout the day my stomach swelled by n the right side, and now my whole stomach hurts and feels swollen and my bowels feel irritated. I'm also getting pains in my back, both my sides. I'm having difficulty walking, moving around, my stomach feels very tender and any movement makes the pains worse even breathing deeply hurts.

Does this sound like an infection?

Yep it does a bit , has it calmed down at all over the day or you got temperature??? can you hop as if it an appendix thing you can't hop . Sorry I obviously not medically trained but know these things they have asked me in the past. Maybe ring 111 and get some advice from dr ?? I would to be sure ..... I think buscapan good if it just a crampy bowel thing I get it on the left so I can hardly stand and very swollen but when no temp and bowels still opening dr never seem concerned although it agony 😖😖but right side may need bit more checking ??. Hope you feeling a bit better now anyway.

Thanks for the reply, I'm already on antibiotics and have been on different ones since last year December due to infection/inflammation in my bladder. I've been in so much pain all I wanted to do is cry all day, nothing seems to help with the pains. I took buscapan and it didn't help at all. I think it is an infection and I've been drinking plenty of water but my bladder hurts badly when I go toilet. My stomach is still swollen. I haven't eaten anything solid today, and have stuck to liquids and will stick to it for a few days.

I've got same thing on my left side last two days agony I'm going to stick to liquids tomorrow too I think . I've been making my own lemon barley water that's been really helping with my bladder since lap I've been lucky I not got infections so no abx just pain. Do you think the bowel pain is because of all the abx ? Hope you feeling a bit better today bladder pain is so awful xxx

Hi, I think when pains are bad it's best to stick to liquids for a few days to avoid any further pains and infection. I can't have lemon barely, as I also suffer from celiac disease so my diet is very limited.

I'm not sure what is causing the bowel pains, it could be adhesions that are wrapped around the bowels.

I'm feeling a little better as I haven't had any solid foods for 3 days, but my pains are still bad. I had to put my morphine patch on yesterday and I think it helped a bit.
