Hi :)

Looking for some support and advice.

I've had symptoms of endo for 8 years now. I'm almost 23 and newly married. I have a great career and we would like to have a family in the next few years.

Last summer, I was hospitalised with pain, and finally a doctor said "I think you've got endometriosis" and sent me to my GP, who then reffered me to a consultant at the hospital. I was advised to take my implant out (this was making me bleed 24/7, so the pain was awful 24/7) and come back in 3 months. They were right, I bled less, but the pain was still there. At my 3 month appointment (January this year) the consultant put me on the combined pill, and the pain since has been HORRENDOUS. I'm at breaking point and I'm struggling big time. I've tried to get my appointment moved forward but have been told by the hospital that this is not an option. The consultant assured me if the pain wasn't gone by the next 3 monthly appointment then the laparoscopy would be performed but I can't wait until the end of April :(

I have a well paying job, as does my husband, but I work for an American company meaning that I don't get sick pay. This means that I have to go to work when my pain is at its worst.

I'm constantly tired and drained and I'm getting really down.

My GP subscribed me with Amitriptyline today which is an antidepressant but prescribed for chronic pain too, from what I can understand. - has anyone tried this?

Sorry for rambling but I feel so alone with this all, I have great support, but nobody I know understands.

Thanks in advance xx

I used amitriptyline and it did work for me before I put myself into a chemical menopause. The latter removed all my symptoms x

I started amitriptyline about two months ago. It's not helping my pain levels but it is helping me sleep. Doctor said to take it before bed. But everyone is different so hopefully it will work for you.

Just know you are not alone!
