Hi there,

Your pre op appointment is to run through what will happen on the day of your procedure, they will give you instructions of where to go, what time etc, most probably take some swabs to check for mrsa, take your blood pressure and perhaps blood. Mine was a 1.00pm appointment and I was done by 1.20, the longest part was having to wait to do bloods and was there for about another hour.

I had a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and cystoscopy last Wednesday, they signed me off for 1 week but I'm still feeling a bit sore and still not moving around as normal but different people heal at different rates. The worst part for me was the gas, it took at least 3 days till I felt better from that as they pump gas into your abdomen so they can see what they are doing. I can handle all the other pain no problem. I found lying down helped me, the nurses tell you to try and move around but I honestly couldn't stand up straight. I drank lots of peppermint tea. When in hospital the nurses offered me this peppermint/magnesium drink thing and I think if I'd have had a couple of then I'd have been much better - so take that if they offer it you!

Honestly though the thought of it is more scary than the actual procedure and I just thought it's better to have it done to get answers than not to, plus you get very well looked after by the nurses after and make sure there's someone lined up to look after you when your home ;-)

Good luck.

Hi, a pre op appointment, just goes over everything regarding the do s and donts before op, and general health checks blood pressure etc,

And I think most ladies take 1-2 weeks off work, but it dies depend on person and job,

The lap itself is over before you know it, worst bit is waiting , good luck,

The post op is like the other ladies said. I was seen quite quickly during mine and they weigh you, take blood pressure ask questions relating to any medication etc. I had 1 week and 1 day off after the op but during my lap I was just diagnosed and no treatment happened during this op. I had op at 9.15 and was leaving the hospital by 1.30pm. Good luck for your op x

Thanks, day but I have had the surgery done already. The thing was that I have to schedule an appointment with them today because in my area there was bad weather. So when the appointment was first scheduled for me after my lap, they found adhesions anyways, not sure if they found Endo but anyways. I am still feel crappy and it's the second week. Would they send me back to work although I feel I need another two weeks?
