Hiya,

Last Thursday I had a laparoscopy.

Had cyst removed, adhesions removed, endometriosis diagnosed and removed, a d and c and a hysteroscopy.

I really struggled with the general anaesthetic, took forever to function and the gas pain was not something that can be underestimated.

I'm finding that my stomach is still really swollen/bloated, I look heavily pregnant and can't fit in any of my clothes, does it take long for this to subside?

And does anyone have any advice on sleep position? I can currently only sleep propped up on my back with my knees drawn up, when I try to sleep on my side my wounds feel very uncomfortable.

Any advice is welcome.. I'll take anything at this point!

Thanks in advance

I feel for you I had mine last Monday and only just now starting to feel better but everyone is different! I would say by the 3rd day I was sleeping a bit better because most of the gas had gone xx

Will be within 4-6 wks that your tummy etc look normal. Takes time to heal, worst of it over in 2-3wks. I always sleep on my bk post op. Hope you feel better x

Peppermint tea helped me with the gas. (No milk)

Worst part of the pain . Like you I had mine quite recent. (Friday)

Still recovering.

I slept sitting up and slumped side wards. Had my first bath yesteryear woooo

Yes I found sleeping almost upright with lots of pillows was the only way I got some degree of comfort. It's a catch 22- they say walk around to get rid of gas but I couldn't even stand up by myself for the first week! I wish you a speedy recovery xx

Thank you everyone.. I'm getting there now, although I'm finding I'm getting some pains again now but figure that's my cycle moving through
