Norethisterone advice please.

Hi,

I'm off on holiday tomorrow for 8 days. Half way into it I'm due on period. As you probably all know our periods are ridiculously painful and so I really don't fancy just spending my holiday in a hotel room. The GP has given me Norethisterone to take but after reading about it, it seems that after coming off it the periods are worse and more painful than ever? I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this drug, and whether there's a correlation between taking it for a length of time and pain/bleeding. Conceivably I could stop taking it on the last day of the holiday and therefore only take it for 4 or 5 days and that would delay my period for 3 days, which is all I need really. Another question I have is whether you can just take less tablets and still have your period but it's lighter?

Hope someone can advise. I've been trying to work out what's best to do for weeks.

Thanks
