Hi all. I had my lap on Thursday and just want to know how long does it take to recover? I have a deep pain where my belly button is and mild pain in my lower abdomen. I am not sure if it is the gas or from the incisions. Did anyone have similar pain? How long did it take for all the pain to subside?
Thanx!

Hi, I had my lap on Friday and have similar pains to the ones you described, most pain around my belly button. I think it's fairly normal to be honest. The gas is causing me the most pain at the minute in my shoulder, back and chest. I'm currently day 3 of recovery and able to move about for about 10 minutes at a time before getting short of breath. It was suggested to me to try and move about, not be bed bound because it'll only slow recovery down. It has helped loads! Day 1 I lied down most of the day, day 2 I sat upright and moved around nearly every hour, which kickstarted my bowel and bladder finally. And today is showering for the first time and taking dressings off, which worries me the most.
I'd only worry if the pain couldn't be handled by any meds, and if it starts weeping or bleeding. Peppermint tea for the gas!! It's the greatest thing!
I had lap 9/18. The pain for me lasted over a week. Gas X was extremely helpful and relieved some of the pain. I was constipated from the Hydrocodone and had to use OTC laxatives. I had 3 incisions. 1 where they went through my belly button, 1 on left pelvic area and 1 on lower abdomen. I was extreme pain to sneeze, laugh, even to use my muscles to sit up or roll over in bed. After 2 weeks I am fully recovered. I went dancing on Day 15 with a little bit of soreness. Worked out on Day 16 and felt better. I'm gradually increasing the intensity of working out. Hope all recovers well for you.
