Hi all I suffer from really bad pelvic /period / burning stabbing pains for 3 days at ovulation time and before period, had laproscopy done, but no endo found just adhesion which was removed. I am still having severe pain , have done for years. What next? Feel like I am been fobbed of.

Have you had a prior operation to cause the adhesion they removed?

Was the surgeon an endometriosis specialist or general gynaecologist?

I have had a csection but when I asked if that was the cause he said he didn't know!! I think he is specialist in all sorts of gyni problems

I believe the C Section (or any abdominal surgery) can cause adhesions, so it is possible. However, if you were having the pain before having your child then that would not fit as a cause.

In order to rule endometriosis out, you really need to see an endometriosis specialist. General gynaecologists or gynaecologists whose interests lie in other areas, like IVF, do sometimes miss well hidden endometriosis (such as in Pouch of Douglas or between bladder and uterus). This is where an endometriosis specialist comes in. They are less likely to miss it because they know to check those areas and are probably better at spotting less developed endometriosis than the general gynaecologists.

If you look up endometriosis specialist centres (member Lindle has the direct link on her profile I believe) you can see which one is nearest to you.

Hormone wise other than the chemical menopause - if you can tolerate the pill then a progesterone only one is suitable for endometriosis or you could look at the Mirena coil, or the depo provera injection... Both of which are considered endometriosis 'friendly'.

Thank you for your help

Maybe you've got it inside as not all laps show it. It may also be pelvic inflammatory disease.

Hi thank you for your response, I don't think it's pid cause had same partner for 9 years. Had 2 children one 17 month so would have been picked up then. They did remove a large adhesion but still have pain.

It's probably endometriosis then; the problem is that the pockets are not always visible, even with laps. What did the doctor(s) say they were going to do next?

Doc wants to give it more time to see if adhesion removal makes any difference then send me for a scan , happy to fob me of with strong pain med. Gyn suggested injection to bring on menopause suggesting it could be a hormone issue got to go back to see him in December. I have suffered for years but gradually got worse and worse but wanted to have kids before sorting it out. Took about 15 months to conceive with 1st. Been on cerrelle for over a year no periods with it but still all the pain at the usual times. Was on combined pill for years which helped with the pain slightly but can't take that now due to developing liver issue when pregnant.

Could having a tilted womb have anything to do with it?
