hi everyone, I have had issues over the last 9 months or so and I think I might have endo. I was just interested to know when people were diagnosed (at what age) and if its known to sometimes trigger symptoms after having a baby. I already have a 3 1/2 year old and have had the odd symptom but after my little boy was born 9 months ago I've had so many problems including pains in my pelvis that come and go and so many things that seem to point to endo.

Hi, I was diagnosed at 24 after going to & from my GP for 2 years. May not be much help to you, but most, if not all, health professionals I've spoken to in the past 3 years have said that pregnancy can help symptoms and be a form of 'treatment' for Endo. However, that is not to say you aren't suffering from it! Would be best to see your GP and discuss your symptoms in detail. Hope all works out for you!
Hi. Sorry to hear that you are suffering from pain. I have always had bad periods from when they started lots of pain and heavy bleeding which I just thought was normal Dr's answer was to put me on the pill and I think that helped control it for a time. I then had my first son at 20 and then my second 24 months later and my last 18 months later during the short time between having them my periods were painful and heavy still and I was told that having a child would make it less heavy and painful but that wasn't the case for me. My youngest child has just turned 9 and about year and half ago I started getting severe pelvic and back pain and still the Heavy periods. I have recently (5 Weeks ago ) had my first laparoscopy and was diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. I would go and see your Gp with your symptoms and request being referred to a specialist for a laparoscopy as this is only way It can be confirmed. I hope this helps
Hi Lindle, thanks for your reply. I'm seeing the doctor again Wednesday so hopefully they'll make progress. the problem I have is that I think I have a few things going on which are driven by stress so I think the doctors seem to focus on those symptoms and get confused but the stress is mostly from the endo type problems. In your experience is it normal to have constant back/hip pain that flares up on and off? My lower back always hurts then I get pains in my pelvis that comes and goes but I'm not sure if the back pain is unrelated as it doesn't go away. I also had no problems at all with fertility (got pregnant within weeks both times of trying) so I don't know if it makes in unlikely to be endo. I think that's another thing that the doctors keep using as a reason they don't think its endo. x
That's amazing, thanks so much for your help. Its so frustrating to keep being tested for everything else when you know none of it makes sense for how you feel. Today the pelvic pain has got worse so I'm currently sat here with a hot water bottle. My periods have always been unpredictable ranging from 20 days once to an 84 day cycle (averaging 58) but having checked my diary today would be day 31 so maybe this is starting because my bodies getting ready for it. I just hope I make some progress Wednesday whether its endo or something else! x
Thanks again for all your help. I have printed everything off and I'm amazed how much that's like my symptoms! I'll take it all along to the doctors Wednesday and hopefully make some progress. I just looked up specialists in the hope there's one near me and amazingly there's the Bristol Endometriosis Clinic just 15-20 minutes away from me. It has a section to ask for an appointment and although it says it prefers a referral letter from a doctor it doesn't say its required so if the doctor wont refer me I'll see if I can take it into my own hands! x
