Hi, this is my 1st post here....I've always suffered heavy painful periods. I have one child aged 7 who I had no problem conceiving...Since then I have continued to suffer with really heavy periods but even worse ovulation pain inc pelvic pain, hot stabbing pain through my vagina and abdomen. I had an early miscarriage 5 yrs ago and since then suffered infertility. I have also been tested at fertility centre and had xrays etc but because I'm overweight I don't meet the guidlines for IVF on nhs so was discharged with unexplained infertility. As I'm 38, time is running out for me to conceive and also having the pain every month I asked for a laparoscopy to check for endo. After gynae initially refusing a laparoscopy due to me being overweight, I finally had it done 12 days ago. The Dr who did the surgery said she had difficulty finding much due to my bowel being quite active, what she did see was a 'nodule' on my right side, although my pain is generally left side. I don't know if its attached to anything but its not blocking my ovary or tube on that side. She said she thinks it may be endo. She also said there is scar tissue and also some adhesions although they are further up in my tummy which she said isn't her 'area'.

I asked why I get the pain on the opposite side to where the the nodule is and she said maybe its IBS. I can't see how this could be right as I only have bowel probs during ovulation time. I have to see my consultant for a follow up in 6 wks but in the mean time would anyone be able to advise what the nodule is and the scar tissue. I just feel like I'm not any further on. Should I go back to my gp about the adhesions in my tummy and have that investigated? I'm recovering ok from the lap, more discomfort than pain but also struggling with being lightheaded and very tired. Sorry for the long story! Hope somone can advise.

Hi there, sorry you have had no advise from your medical proffessionals,

A nodule is a mass of something, in your case a mass of endo, and adhesions are sticky scar tissues that make things stick together, they alone can cause pain as areas or organs can't move how they are supposed to, your gyne doc dosnt sound like she nos a lot about endo, i would ask your Gp for a refferal to se a endo specialist,

Read a lady's posts called Lindle, it will explain a lot better than I have,

Good luck in the future

Xxx

Hi Lindle...thanks for your reply and all the info. The only surgery I had was a c section so not sure if the scar tissue is from that. The adhesions apparently are higher up in my tummy. I'm workin on the weight issue and I also keep a pain diary so I guess I will see how things pan out.

I will have a look at your post about specialists, I'm in N.Ireland, not sure that there is a big choice of specialists..the only one I've heard of only works privately and not on nhs and unfortunately I'm not in a position to go private.

Thanks for your help x
