For me the only thing that worked to go to the toilet for the first time after the op was a suppository. After that a was taking fibrogel sachets for a week or so until I started going to the toilet regularly. Take care x
Im a yoga teacher with endo ( nearly 100% self healed it though)
This is what you need to do: ly on your back ( so you face the sky) with your knees bent .& feet flat. then drop your knees to the right side of you. stay here for 2min -breath long deep and slow. The draw your knees to the other side of you - still bent, like in foetus, again breathe long & slow, for 2min. if your pelvis hurts wedge a pillow between your knees, if your knees do not touch the ground in the twist / or your hip hurts at all pop a pillow under under the lowest thigh. If this is mega easy & you've no hip probs: try this, cross left thigh over right (like your just crossing your legs) the drop to right. Then cross right thigh over left thigh ( simply jst crossing legs) and drop to left. Again hold 2 mins each side long breathes.,Do this morning & night.
Buy Aloe Vera Colon cleanse from Holland & barratt. £7.99, white bottle with pink label. Add it to your juice. I-2 caps per day,
Finally - Put your hands spread wide on your belly and rub in a soft circle clockwise direction - be super slow. this will help you go. Do this too - for a min or so daily; Inhale belly big - exhale belly flat - try & relax belly as much as poss on the exhale.
Finally Google l-glutamine, this lines the gut, feeds muscle & help body adsorb protein, get the vegetarian version by a brand called lamberts - Amazon will sell it. Good luck x
Hi hun,
There are many stool softners & gentle laxatives that you can either get over the counter from a pharmacy or from a local supermarket. Try senna or dulcolax, & you can also get suppositories. If this fails then see your GP who can prescribe something stronger such as lactulose (very powerful & yucky laxative syrup) or something called movicol which is a powder that you dilute in water & drink (it tastes awful but you can also drink it in squash) hope this helps xx
Oh & I also forgot to add- get yourself a small footstool/step/plastic box or similar about a foot high, & when you need to go to the toilet, place your feet on the box or whatever you use whilst you are on the toilet (it sounds strange but make sure it is pushed back a bit so it is touching the base of the toilet) this will put your body in a squat position rather than just sitting on the loo with your feet on the floor. It helps to reduce the strain when you are trying to go for a poo as your muscles will naturally relax & you will find it easier. It sounds strange but I promise it will help! xx
You can actually buy lactulose over the counter now, a bottle is a about 4 pounds I believe and should really help, I would start with 15ml twice a day but you can take it up to 20 times a day in exceptional circumstances x
I agree with durdledoor. My little boy had extreme constipation and anal fissures which got him into a terrible viscous cycle. Lactulose really worked. Just softened the stool as it draws water from the gut and helps everything pass through. Laxatives such as dulcolax cause spasms, which could result in more pain. X
I've been, yay, lol, just got to keep it up now, or down!!
Glad you've been!! I once ended up hospitalised on morphine for constipation. I'd recommend speaking to your GP if it continues. There is a drug called Picolax that works through your system very quickly. It's very strong and you may have to go to the hospital to take it, but they've given it to me at home before too. If it carries on though I would certainly enquire about it x
