Hi all, was wondering if anyone found decapeptyl injection helped? I have been back to see my gynaecologist after constant daily pain! But I'm unsure whether to have it or not? I dont like the idea of the side effects at 23 :( xx

I was put on this after my first lap in 2013. Best three months ever. I had no HRT with it, but the menopausal side effects were minimal. After my second lap in April 2013, I was put on it again for 6 months with HRT - again absolutely brilliant. I had never felt so good - no pain etc. I thought to myself this is how life is supposed to be. The downside was when I eventually came off it and got my first period it was horrendous. My endo came back pretty quickly, so I was referred back to try hospital in jan 2014. After tests, I was asked about a hysterectomy and jumped at it, I also asked to go back on the injections for respite from the pain. I was on them again for 6 months and felt great.

I know other people have not had good experiences. For me it was brilliant. For the times I was on it, I felt like I could actually live my life (sounds corny I know) no pain, no worrying about when the pain will come.

Now I'm in surgical menopause and I am getting the symptoms - the HRT is working against the hot flushes!

You're doing the right thing in asking people, and getting both sides of what people went through. How long did you're gynae say you would be on them for?

I've had it twice and never again would I do it to myself. The side effects were horrid. I couldn't control my emotions or bleeding. I would personally never have anything in my body again that I can't control or stop working when I want it too x

I had 6 injections, it was the best thing I could have done. Yes I had some menopausal symptoms, hot flushes and night sweats but I have to say they are no where near as bad as the surgical menopause I am in now. I had a total hysterectomy 6 weeks ago and the night sweats, hot flushes, mood swings and insomnia are 10 times worse.

At the end of the day you can try, if it doesn't suit you, stop. If it does then enjoy 6 months pain free.

Either way I hope you get a solution soon xx

Im currently at the end of the six months injection and unfortunately its not helped with easing the pain. The side effects for me are minimum mainly hot flushes but come and go very quickly. Give it a go on the one month injection to see how it works for you. If you dont try you will never know and you could have the brillent effects that the ladies above have had. Good luck.

Thank you all! It sounds like it's my last option apart from tying for kids which im not ready for at the moment! They won't give me the option for a monthly one only 3 months so I think I might try it. I would do anything to get rid of this pain right now, I can only try! I'm a bridesmaid in september so I just want to be able to do this without worrying about the amount of pain im going to be in :( xx

Hi I am 23 aswel and also a bridesmaid in September :) I am currently receiving the injection. I have suffered from endo since 14 was early starting period at 10 I have had 2 operations and tried everything possible. I have being vomiting on top of the pain and everything that comes with endo for 2 years now everything I eat comes straight back up of course gyne won't admit its endo back she says it's stomach but had all tests for everything and nothing showed up. I was told the injection was only hope I was very hesitant at start due to the effects it can have and refused to take the 3 monthly one. I said the pill doesn't suit me I was sucidal could not stop crying so won't take it cause if doesn't agree with me it's in my system for 3 months I could end up self harms or worse suicide eventually we came to agreement I tried monthly 1 for 6 months if went well try 3 month so as I really want to have kids in future I agreed so far I have had all the 6 monthly injections and just got the 3 month one Tuesday. So far the 6 months of 1 injection a month was fine just hot flushes and night sweats I was given livial to counteract the symptoms to be honest made me feel awful so stopped taking it. Since Tuesday (today is Sunday) I have suffered headaches the past 3 days and the fluid in needle stung like crazy going in didn't get that with monthly injections so I definitely think the monthly one is best start off with they never offer it up you have to try get them give it to you plead if you have to its the only way you'll know if it's right for you I'm only few days in and I can tell the difference if I had started wit the 3 month one I would say I wouldn't of got another one. Hope this helps and they listen to what you want as its your body :)

Hiya I am on my second 3 month decapeptyl injection. I can only tell you how I found it, everyone is different. Major reduction in pain, like you I had constant pain daily, that has reduced to almost no pain, just twinges as my bowel is covered in Endo too and fused to my uterus. The hot flushes were bad at the start, but that is a side effect. I have also gained weight which I am now actively trying to lose but it was defo from the decapeptyl as it was so fast and not from overeating. Lots of women put on no weight tho, it seems to be luck of the draw. I feel for u in pain daily so if ur willing to try the injection maybe like me ur pain will ease. I am back to gyni this month to see where we go from here. Good luck to you whatever path you choose.x
