Just wondered if anyone on here suffers with endometriosis around their bowel and what their symptoms are. Does anyone bleed from the bowel? Could really do with some help/support from other sufferers. Many thanks Rachel xx😞

Hi Rachel, I had endo around my bowel and it significantly damaged it but I had surgery last year to remove it. I didn't have it in my bowel though but I think bleeding can be a sign that you may have but of course it could also be many other issues so it's crucial to get it checked out by a specialist asap. Sure your GP will make a quick referral for bleeding. My symptoms prior to surgery for many years was severe constipation and stabbing pain that was connected to my menstrual cycle, I really wish I had got help much earlier than I did. Good luck and don't worry about the investigations, they can give you a sedative that means you have no memory of it at all!! :-)

Thankyou so much for replying, I had a flexible sigmoidoscopy last June as i was getting treated for piles and excruciating bowel movements but this came back clear. I have always suffered with bloating and constipation but never really noticed bleeding until after my hysterectomy, its always bright red and just wondered if that's the norm with most bowel Endo sufferers. Xx

Hi Rachel, I too suffered with endo on the biwel. Symptoms, on top of my other endo symptoms elsewhere were bleeding, diarroah, and stabbing pains up the back passage when trying to go (as in so painful you lift yourself off the loo). Had first bowel surgery about 10 years ago. Had 2nd and hopefully last (along with full hysterectomy and bladder 'unsticking' last Friday. Without periods I would get any new endo but I may still suffer discomfort from the extensive scarring on bowel and bladder. I would get a referral to your gyne assp xx

The pain sounds just like mine, stabping and sharp. I never noticed bleeding until after my hysterectomy, this is bright red. They sent me for a flexible sigmoidoscopy last June which was completely clear so they have trialled me on prostap which has made a real difference and I'm now waiting to have my ovaries removed but like you my bladder is stuck to my cervix so they couldn't remove it. I really want to know if ovary removal on its own will cure my bowel symptoms or wether i may need further surgery later on. Quite worried and confused xx

Hello. I myself suffer with Endo on my bowels. I had my first lap last jan after been admitted to hospital 9 times in 4 months they decided to investigate and suggested I may have Endo. They were right. I had loads of it including on my bowel. Due to it being an investigatory op the bowel specialist not being present it wasn't removed from my bowels or other delicate parts. IN the past 4/5 months I've been suffering with bleeding from my bowels. So much that I have to flush the loo twice so the blood is no longer evident. I've been monitoring it and it appears to happen mostly round my monthly cycle (although my my periods are almost non exsistant) unfortunately still get all the pain. I met with my consultant and they think the Endo has either entred the lining of the bowel or actually directly in my bowel. Waiting for investation- have to have surgery either way to remove what was left behind. Very important u get it looked into x

Hiya, thanks for replying, do u mind telling me what colour your blood loss is, is it bright red? Mine is and i was getting treated for piles but tests were clear. My symptoms cleared whilst was on prostap injections but 8 wks after my last injection my bowel issues and pelvic pain all came back so they have started me back on prostap. Thanks Rachel xx

Hi Rachel, yes mine is bright red fresh blood and so much u can't see the bottom of the loo.

When meeting with my consultant she said its concerning as if it was piles etc there would only be blood on wiping, the fact there's so much is cause for concern. Ur symptoms sound simular to mine. Maybe talk to ur consultant again? Or ask what else could possibly be causing your bleeding if no Endo eas found. Or even request another investigation of answers given are not satisfactory.

Do u bleed from ur back passage all the time or just around your period?

X

Hiya vincenza, no i only bleed cyclical, had a sub total hysterectomy last march for heavy periods, very large clots and severe pain, because I bled so heavily I never noticed my back passage just the pain but after my op I noticed cyclical pain and bleeding. They're now on about taking my ovaries out. I hope this works as it means i will go through early menopause for nothing xx thankyou for your help much appreciated 😊 Rachel xx
