can anybody help me with this please. I've recently just come off the injections and wondered how long it's taken anybody's periods, moods to get back to normal. My moods have been all over the place and periods have not started back yet, not that I'm looking forward to that x

Average is 6 months for ovulation to restart - that's the only one of the many hormones that I am aware of that hs had any research on how long it takes. So half of ladies will recover their ovulation hormone levels quicker and almost half take longer with some few not ovulating ever again.

The complexity is that the drug shuts down the pituitary gland that makes lots of different hormones and when the drug is stopped and starts to ease off there is no set time frame for the pituitary to wake up and get back to full production of each of the hormones. some will return quicker than others and sometimes sadly the production never recovers to the levels it once was for some perhaps aall of the hormones. Each of us is unique case and where one person's body prioritises certain hormones as more urgent than will be the case for someone else.

Your body ought to give a higher priority to the critical hormones first, like the ones that regulate body temperature and blood pressure and heart rate, then perhaps thyroid activity, growth hormones and eventually the sex hormones.

It is only when the levels are topped up to full production that you will be rid of all the side effects felt from being starved of those hormones.

You might find while you wait that taking HRT which your GP can prescribe may help you with some side effects but that certainly won't be all of them as HRT doesn't replace all the missing hormone types.

In my own case I began to notice the hot flushes getting further and further apart around about 3 weeks after the last implant was due if I had had it. Thelimb pains, headaches, blurred vision, heart palpitations etc eased off a bit quicker, but somethings took a lot longer and the short term memory loss problems are still with me 3 years later...clearly one of the hormones at least did not recover full production in my body !!

Moods tend to be related to sex hormone levels and could benefit from the HRT. Certainly worth trying that in case it can help you, if it doesn't then you can stop taking the HRT.

Do see your GP because there are tests on th hormones that can be done and different HRT regimes that can relieve your symptons. Best of Luck.
