So I have had awful heavy and painful periods all my life and since 19 was told I had IBS, now I have pain during sex. It's my left side and I'm scared to be told now aged 35 that it is not IBS and bad periods, it is endo. I mean doesn't that mean it will be really bad growth by now? Why did it take this long to get to the point of operating?
Most scary of all is that my partner and I have been trying for a baby for maybe 5 or 6 months, does this diagnosis seriously affect fertility? How soon after the operation can we try? The dr said it should improve fertility, is that right, I was hoping someone out there with experience of the same could talk me through it.
Sorry for all the questions but how long did it take to feel back to normal after the op?
I really feel for everyone on here and hope that you have the best doctors and people around you.
God bless.

I am currently in almost the same situation as you. However I've had survey before, I just wasn't aware how bad the endometriosis would have progressed after the surgery.
I've recently seen a new Endo Specialist, she commends after my next surgery I focus on trying for a baby ASAP and she has referred me to a fertility specialist, who would give me the best information .
Just to reassure you, everyone's situation is different so don't jump to any conclusions just yet. I recommend asking to be referred to a fertility specialist. Given your age and health, it can go any way.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I will definitely let the doctor know I want fertility treatment asap if it's necessary. Think he booked surgery as I told him I am trying for a baby, he claimed it would help. Please tell me how long was your recovery time after the laparoscomy?
I have jus been diagnosed with endo too.i have already got polycystic ovaries and had a laprascopy as i was struggling to fall pregnant and im pleased to say it worked.i fell pregnant within a month of having the surgery and now have a 2yr old daughter.I have been told by gynae that its best to try again for a baby after the next laprascopy as i will be more fertile. However now is not the right time for us to have another baby.i had 2wks off with the last op so recovery isnt too long but it also depends on how much work u have had during surgery tho i guess.im sure you wil fall pregnant soon after.keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
Not a problem. Wish I found this forum when I had my original op. I originally went in for an OC and the Endo was found.
It was quick, when I woke up I was confused and honest lol I told my nurse he was pretty hot and that I needed a bed pan ASAP lol
As some as you are out of recovery and back on the ward, do deep breathing, stretch as best as you can, and when you feel a little more stable, attempt to walk and and move around. Your body won't be responsive as soon as you get up, but don't be scared. Again important for your partner to be there or a close relative or friend. You may face some embarrassing moments but having someone you trust at your side is important. Your partner needs to be prepared for this.
They say up 6 weeks recoverybut it was more like 8. The GP told me I could go to work the next day. I was sore for about 6 weeks. But I mentally felt like every move would rip or tear something. But I honestly think it was a mental state of not worrying after the6 weeks of feeling discomfort.
It's important that your partner is supportive. And talk to him about everything you are going through and feeling.
You feel a difference after your next period, I had my surgery during mine, but the painkillers are awesome lol
Thank you so much for your reply, it is good to hear some encouraging news. So happy for you that it enabled you to fall pregnant. Let's hope it has the same results for me. Two weeks is not too bad for recovery time. Yes until surgery I suppose I will not know the extent of the endo. I hope it's not too bad. Please tell me if you don't mind, what were the symptoms you had before being referred for surgery and how bad were they?
Thanks again and I wish you every success in the second round of endo removal.
So I had the trans vaginal scan today. They said there were 2 cysts on the right side with haemorrhaging and on the left side was liquid...an indication that a cyst had burst. But all else is clear. What does this mean? Anyone else have this? The cysts were 2.5cm long!!!! That sounds big to me but the doctor said it happens in most women. Is that right? Please help. Thanks in advance. x
