Hi there cabbage12

I was once prescribed Loestrin to try help regulate my periods and pain. Particularly as the other contraceptive pills were not any good for me due to reactions.

I found it definitely helped to regulate my periods, which was a godsend. It only helped a miniscule with the pain tho. It is low in oestrogen which I needed to help ease my nausea and headaches. If I had to go back on the pill I would go back on this as it was def the best one for me as at least it helped with something instead of nothing!

Hope this helps x

Hi squidgy,

can I ask you how often you got periods and how light/heavy they were, while on Loestrin 20? I've just been prescribed this too and I'm on my first week and so far so good! No bad side-effects and most of all no bleeding... YET. I had a horrifying 4 months on Cerazette and bled constantly and also was in a lot of pain, so I'm just praying this is it now!

thanks a lot! x

I was on loestrin 20 for years before I stopped to TTC , had no problems until I tried it again last year to take back to back (waiting on lap) I developed urticaria (hives) from it this time so had to stop. I was on Yasmin next but felt very sick on it. Then Microgynon 30, it worked a treat until my BP shot up after 10 months on it back to back for no reason.

Give loestrin 20 a go, out of everything I've been on the last 20 years I liked it best.

Good luck x

I tried it a couple of yrs ago and did not like it. It did nothing for my pain and on top of that, I felt lathargic and emotionless. Nothing was funny, sad or happy for me. I was just "there" and I hated it. I only used it for about 2 months but I hated the way it made me feel so I stopped taking it. That was my experience.

I took Loestrin 20 continuously (break every three months - or when I remembered...) for about 8 years. Worked really well for me, but I don't have a great deal of pain with my endo (stage 4) unless I have endometriomas.

Oh, forgot to say that I was on Microgynon first but got really bad headaches, then Loestrin 30 which gave me night sweats. Loestrin 20 was great for me, no noticeable side effects.

Did anyone experience continuous bleeding on Loestrin 20. Stared it 13 days ago (on the first day of my period) and have been bleeding since. Getting worried.
