Rosie - use the search box in the green bar at the top of the page as there have been some very useful previous discussions on acupuncture...both good and very bad.

It is definitely worth ploughing through the old discussions as one lady had a dreadful reaction to the process and ended up in hosp, and I wouldn't want that to happen to you or anyone else who is trying it for the 1st time. It will be quite an old post now - possibly about 2 years ago. I seem to recall it was soon after the forum opened.

Perhaps a small test patch would be a very good idea to see how your body reacts before paying for a whole treatment.

Thank you so much for taking your time to look in to this for me and it has been really helpful to hear a similar point of view. I will definitely take the time to glance at the old conversations as I was recently advised to use Colonic Irrigation for my Irritable Bowel Syndrome and I had the most awful reaction to it! The test patch sounds like a fantastic idea, do you have any idea how I might look in to getting one done?

Thank you very much again,

Rosie :)

I had nhs - crap and private - excellent...it is very much dependent on the practitioner but no harm in trying it with a reputable person. I swear by Colinics they are amazing for feeling uplifted, bloating and skin issues but have little effect on chronic constipation. Obviously be wary but ending up in hospital from acupuncture sounds very extreme?!
