Hi all. I had my lap done on 2nd may. I had endo on my pelvis, ovarian fossa and on my ovary suspensory ligament (IP).

Experiencing pain in pelvis and in right groin. Feeling sick, stomach cramps etc.

Also on antibiotics for the incision in my belly button.

Can anyone advise?

Recovery from surgery takes weeks not days. It is normal to be feeling grim in the early stages of recovery and if you have an infection and are on antibiotics they can cause some side effects but you absolutely must keep taking them and perhaps go back and get more if the infection is not cleared up.

What you describe sounds much like a normal recovery so far. Pains cramps, etc will come from surgery sites inside, if you have laser or diathermy work done on the endo these are burns and take several weeks to heal. longer than a severe case of sunburn.

Antibiotics can make you feel sicky, but they are essential for infections and you have to put up with them because the consequences of stopping too soon and that infection taking hold don't bear thinking about.

Stay off work as long as you need to. 3 weeks, 8 weeks whatever it takes. there is no set guideline because each of us recovers at our own pace and having any infection will delay the healing process for longer still. Far too soon at this stage to be expecting to be feeling better. It's only been 10 days.

My op took nearly 5 months to be op pain free completely. Granted it was a big hole op, but still a lot of work can be done inside regardless of the surgical hole size. it does take time and care to be feeling better but it will happen...eventually.

Call the gynae ward you were on if there is anything specific worrying you, but so far being on antibiotics is the right move and you have to give you body a decent chance to recover.
