I had the same query.. The Gynae registrar completely patronised me and drew a diagram of the reproductive organs, explaining how babies are made!! I ended up in tears by the end of the appointment...

I was told it's 'rubbish' to opt for egg retrieval as it's not effective according to the research... Apparently, freezing embryos is much more successful...

Her parting words to me were basically to have sex and lots of it... As if I didn't know how babies were made. Honestly, I am extremely taken aback that someone in her position could belittle someone with severe Endo and genuine concerns about infertility...

Well I had already had the discussion with a 2nd GP ( not the initial referrer) who had explained egg retrieval is only really carried out on cancer patients about to undergo radiotherapy or chemotherapy.. Basically, it's a last resort.

I've been told there's no contingency plan for those who know they have endometriosis.. You can go privately but be prepared that the frozen eggs may not be viable when you need to use them.. I'm not ready yet to have kids as I've only been with my boyfriend for 3 months.. I'm 35 soon and am worried... Started to go for counselling instead now to see if that helps me to stop putting pressure on myself about the possibility of not having kids in the future.

I really wish you all the best.

still discussion is going on what is more successful frozen eggs or embies? May happy medium is to find a good ferttility clinic with pocket friendly prices (e.g. 2000 Euro) and freeze eggs or embies-just what you feel right for you. As eggs freezing is a new procedure with possible good results in future. But won't it be late for you?
