Why don't I have heavy periods? I have endo.

I had a lap in feb 2013, having another one end of March. I have endo in pouch of Douglas , my tubes are blocked and clubbed. I had two cysts on each ovary, one burst the other was removed in my lap. I was taking pill back to back with a week period every three months, I actually stopped taking this about five weeks ago. But I never really get heavy periods, just a bit of spotting. Does anyone know why. I'm in constant pain since September that steadily got worst over the months. My NEW specialist says that my womb walls are swollen. Any ideas???

Hello.

Does you specialist suspect adenomyosis ?

I have stage 3/4 Endo and adenomyosis (detected on an MRI) scan.

Unfortunately my bleeding is torrential and I've just had the mirena put in.

Possibly, I'm down for a lap that could end up in a hysterectomy, I've consented for him to do what he likes, I already had two children, they are 14 & 11, so I defiantly don't want anymore (I'm a lucky one) I'm glad I had them young. I'm 35 now. Surely menopause can't be as bad as the pain.

I'm 43 and have had my children (I was told to have babies at 19/20).

The left side of my pelvis is all stuck and the pain of the Endo and adenomyosis is really affecting my quality of life.

I wish my natural menopause would come early!

When is your lap scheduled for?

I got the call today, 29th march. That seems ages away right now, hopefully I can hold out till then. I paid to see consultant /specialist at private hospital, he is doing the op there under nhs, which I am grateful for. I'm in pain every day, never ever pain free.

in reply to Sheri26

Very best of luck with the lap. I sincerely hope you are pain free soon. X

I love your sense of humour, I've noticed some of your comments on other post. I've got my support group next week, I can have a good moan to my endo friends xx

Could it be that you have such widespread adenomyosis that the endo is bleeding into the uterus walls and not finding a way out?Would fit if your womb is very swollen.I have never( thankfully) had heavy periods, except when coming off treatments when they are horrific.I have always considered myself lucky not to have had torrential bleeds,They always lasted more than a week and were agonising, but at least no issues with anaemia, like lots ladies suffer.Wishing you best of luck with your next lap.Its amazing that so many of us are in such similar positions - I am probably having total hysterectomy and excision done this year, but also waiting to see surgeon re bowel endo.

Do you think that might be why daffodil, will google it. Maybe that's why I get constant pain because it can't get out!! He did say that if tubes are blocked they might be ballooning if they are blocked, He is doing radical excision surgery and booked me in for two nights .

You may have adenymosis as well as the endo. I have/had both. My period were always very heavy and painful but after my ablation that were no longer heavy but became increasingly more painful. Adenoymosis means you bleed into the muscle of the womb which makes them thicken. Sending you best wishes for you

Discuss if he does hysterectomy whether he will take or leave ovaries behind. I had total abdominal hysterectomy with both my ovaries removed last Wednesday. I was told to keep ovaries when I first saw gynae then have them removed when I saw her second time. Hindsight tells me she read a book in between. When I questioned her she said go away make a decision and let me know on the day of the op. When I told my gp this today she couldn't believe I was told to do my own research but told me I had made the right decision

Hi, I also have endo with a low intensity spotty period. I used to have very abundant periods until my late twenties, I mentioned it to GPs (several) a few times, as well as Gyn doctors and none of them seems to think there is anything amiss. But during the last year and a half of terrible pelvic pain the GP always though it was IBS so taking that with a pinch of salt...

Hope all goes well with your op, mine will be in May, seems like a lifetime to go! Will go on induced menopause shots soon, waiting for appointment with doctor. Also started on the Endo diet. Everything takes so long…

Good luck!

I have very bit of faith in my surgeon , and I know he will only do it if absolutely necessary, I said 'if in doubt take it out' , but had thought keep one ovary if need be , but end up not being that, but would rather have one surgery than another one six months to a year later. Thanks ladies for advices xxxx
