I find pineapple, prunes and peanuts help my bowels to move. I Also drink ALOT of fluid!

It will be worth you speaking to a doctor who may be able to prescribe you something to keep your bowels opening regularly.

Pop to the chemist and ask for a bottle of lactulose - very cheap and gets you moving.

Or to tackle things from the other end- suppositories which are pellets of glycerine which you shove up the back passage- they tell your bowels to absorb fluids from your body which dissolves the poo and makes it lot easier to pass.

Obviously you do need to buy disposable gloves for that one- and they are sold in small packs of 20 - 50 at the supermarkets next to the nappy section.

Hold on to the pellet for at least 45 mins to an hour even though by then you will be bursting to poop. The longer you hold it in the softer the constipation gets further along and the more you will ge rid of it.

Might need to do that 2 or 3 nights in a row to really get unblocked if it has been a while- but 3 days is not a lot. Most cases of constipation can get to 10 days without going to the loo, before needing to take more drastic measures.

They are both cheap and easy remedies. Best get what you need and keep it in the medicine cabinet for next time. Might not need it for a while- but it is a staple basic to have to hand in the house in case you or someone in tthe family needs it.

Fiboygel helps me a lot and keeps me regular as otherwise i can go for days without going but you need to keep taking them. I take two a day and it's helping a lot x

I would second the others advice! I am having exactly same problem having had a endo flare, severe kidney infection, bleeding adhesions which landed me in hospital. I hadn't moved bowels for 7days ,when I would normally go twice a day and really was in agony ,despite copious prunes and laxatives .Eventually I had to call in Dr as seems I,ve had a partial bowel blockage, due to the endo/adhesions in bowel. Dr gave me magic powders to dissolve in water -I had to take 6 in 6 hours- called Macrogol oral powder. Don't know if they are prescription only, but boy did they work and I feel so much less pain now. When you are in a lot of pain and /or taking lots of codeine based painkillers it becomes impossible to go as they dehydrate you. As others say eat plenty fibre, drink lots( not caffeine). In the past I have tried lactulose, sodium ducosate, senna and little cubes which you chew - think made of figs. Syrup of figs is also. good. If constipation is a chronic thing best to get GP to prescribe something to take regularly as being bunged up only adds to the agony, as Im sure everyone on here will agree! Hope you find something that works. Not a pleasant topic, but good we are free to discuss here !

You poor thing:(

I think all the advice is worth following up but thought I would share what I do. I have to take a lot of codeine based pain killers which has already been mentioned to make you very constipated. I avoid anything stodgy when I take them (bread, pasta etc). I am a vegetarian anyway but I would avoid red meats at this time which are harder to digest. I have a juicer and have fresh pineapple juice which works really well and eat a lot of vegetables. I try to stick to the "endo diet" as much as possible and find that as soon as I come back to eating gluten etc. I get really constipated.

I hope you start to feel better soon! x

Sorry to hear you're suffering. I take Andrews health salts to help me - endo is on my bowel which causes a lot of pain so taking health salts just makes it easier rather than taking a laxative as they it isn't so strong xx
