I'm on my second injection of prostap and the dull aches are killing me, with tingling on my face. Can the side affect be reversed?
I'm not sure but I totally sympathise. I was offered this injection and after reading about the side effects I refused to take it. My job involves a lot of riding and I didn't like the visual disturbances side effect and dizziness although I realise that only certain people suffer the effects but I couldn't risk it. You need to speak to your GP if you get nowhere on this brilliant forum. Good luck.
Thanks, it's affecting me as I'm a nurse. I had a job meeting today unable to go. I wish someone would find a cure or pain reliefs. I've had 5 Lap tried almost everything only God knows what the best solution is.
Ahh poor you when it affects your job. You need to get pain relief from your GP on prescription as I presume the drugs over the counter don't touch! I use paracetamol & codeine (boots own brand) and they take the slight edge off my very severe period pains. Has the prostap stopped your periods? if you don't mind me asking, as that's one of the reasons they wanted to put me on it as well as hrt. I have 5cm fibroids which are giving me severe heavy and painful periods. I'm 48 and longing for the menopause so I can get on with my like and not suffering for 2 weeks each month!
They have given me prostap to stop the periods last month was my first injection and still had a period where I ended up in hospital! They convinced me to try one more month to see if it settles but yesterday and last night were the worst of the dull aches and pains. Took tramadol didn't do much. I'm not having this again I'd rather have a period and cope with that. I too have fibroids so they don't help either. I'm 44 and longing to have children but it saddens me maybe not in this lifetime.
Don't give up hope re conceiving I really hope things work out for you so you wouldn't recommend prostap?!

Just wanted to share my experience of prostap, for me it has been AMAZING! Once it kicked in after about 7-8 weeks I have been almost 100% pain free whereas before I went on it I was in extreme pain with only a couple of ok-ish days a month and had got to the point where I couldn't leave the house. I stopped bleeding the day i had the first injection and havent had a period for a year which has brilliant! There are side effects and it is a powerful drug but it is impossible to know how you will react without trying it, for me I did have pretty much all of the side effects but to be pain free I was willing to have the side effects instead. X
Good for you and I am glad it has worked. But I'm really suffering at the moment. I just pray it settles down x

It took about 7-8 weeks to start getting any relief from pain, I struggled too at the beginning and had a rubbish Xmas last year because of it as was getting full on side effects but no benefit so very nearly didn't get the 3rd injection but so so so glad I stuck with it as from the 8 weeks mark it really helped, that was January and still pain free (last injection ran out end of sept) so I've had a good stint of pain relief from it x
No I wouldn't recommend it, but they say the side effects different people in different ways you can try it and see how you feel.
I also tried Prostap and the difference it made to the every day agony I was suffering was also amazing. I had side effects: weight gain, hair growth, moodiness, hot sweats etc even whilst on add-back HRT but they were worth it as theses were far less intrusive than the Endo. I am 26, and after being on Prostap, I can't wait for the menopause.
Oh so sorry to hear that at a young age too. I would wish the menopause but I really really want children although the Nhs has written me off! It's heart breaking every month for all us women to go through this pain.
it is meant to make life better- and it doesn't for everyone, and if it doesn't for you then quit the treatment. it is entirely your choice to plough on or to stop. It is not a cure, it is taken purely and simply to give you a break and improve things, but if the side effects are worse by being on the drug than putting up with those same months taking pain killers for period and endo pain, then stop. It's not a competition, you don't have to last the full number of months the doc suggested, and it isn't like antibiotics where you have to finish the treatment course, stopping is an option, and as soon as you stop you begin to recover from the drug side effects over the few weeks after stopping. Most of the unpleasant side effects will be gone in a month or so if not sooner.
So far today thank God I've been fine! A slight dull ache but nothing I couldn't manage and the feeling when you are well physically is out of this world x
